Frequently asked questions

Here you can find answers to some of the more common questions we get asked. If you have specific requests or need more details please book a short meeting and we can discuss them further.

Q: How long does the process typically take before we can start hiring?

A: The time needed from starting the discussion, agreeing on the details, having a plan and having a company registered is typically between 6 and 9 months but can vary in each specific case.

Q: How can we be certain that hired employees will be qualified, motivated and a good cultural fit?

A: Your team is involved in the interview process of all employees to make sure they are a suitable cultural and technical fit. Our hiring process will be aligned with your existing process. After joining we support you with individual development plans and regular feedback sessions with each employee to ensure they are motivated and performing well.

Q: Our company has never worked with external colleagues before. Is that going to be an issue?

A: If your team has not worked with remote team members before there may be more anxiety, questions that need addressing and specific preparation to make sure everyone is comfortable and on board. We can help and take part in on-site trainings and workshops to address all concerns, agree on ways of working and onboarding and move forward in a transparent way.

Q: What are the salary ranges of employees in Bulgaria and would it make financial sense?

A: We monitor the employment market constantly and can advise you on current salary ranges and total cost per employee based on your specific needs and required skills and seniority level. Bulgaria has a good talent pool and still maintains competitive prices compared to most other EU countries.

Q: Is it true that Bulgaria has one of the lowest tax rates in Europe?

A: Yes, Bulgaria has a flat corporate tax rate of 10% and divident distribution tax of 5%. Tax on employee earnings is also flat at 10% and there is a cap on social security expense which makes overhead and total cost per employee lower for the company.

Q: We are concerned that we know nothing about the legal and regulatory framework in Bulgaria.

A: There is generally no framework or regulation required for technology companies. We work with established law, accounting and payroll partners to ensure full compliance to government regulations. You are welcome to involve your own law firm as part of the negotiation and company registration process and your own annual auditing firm to verify yearly closing reports.

Q: Are there any significant cultural or language differences?

A: Each country has its own cultural, political and historical background. We will guide you through what you can expect in terms of cultural differences and make the necessary steps to breach any gaps with your existing team. As for language - all technical specialists (junior to senior level) speak English fluently.

Q: What is the current policital situation and stability in Bulgaria?

A: Since joining the EU in 2007 Bulgaria has followed a steady political line aligned with the EU's values, priorities and key initiatives. The currently elected coallition continues the same democratic political line and there is a stable majority among the population.

Q: How is my intellectual property and know-how protected?

A: All contracts with third parties and employees have a NDA included and necessary clauses for IP protection. We can include any specific requirements your legal team has in order to ensure compliance, security and confidence with all stakeholders.
